Here are three proven methods for getting greater customer engagement.

1.      Run Competitions

Running a competition is a very effective way to market your business improve customer engagement – who doesn’t love the chance to win something? Use a good prize or reward to entice customers. Make it something they want to share with their friends and followers and you’re increasing your reach with minimal effort. It will get people talking about your brand. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter can be great for promoting your competitions and leading them to your website.

2.      Offer One off Discounts and Deals

Consumers love a discount. Small business owners don’t. Limited buying power and limited resources can be barriers. Offering discounts if not done properly can devalue your brand and disappoint your loyal full paying customers. But there is a way to make it work for your customer and for you. Think of ‘One off’s’ like ‘End of Financial Year’ specials, ‘Introductory Prices for a limited time’ or packages where you add value to an existing product or service. Once you’ve hooked them it’s them up to you to impress them enough for them to want to come back for more.

There are also many deal sites now offering huge exposure if you’re prepared to use an attractive enough offer in a large enough quantity to qualify. They are great for exposure and volume, just consider first – does it align with your branding, and can you service those who take up the offer.

3.      Use Videos

Displaying product videos on your website is a very effective way to increase sales. Studies show that customers are much more likely to buy if they see a video on your product or service pages.

Being active on YouTube is another effective way to market your small business. YouTube is one of the most widely used channels by consumers today and building your company’s presence on the site can get extra coverage for your business and help to attract new customers.

You can also start your own YouTube channel to post your videos as well as share videos of other users that are relevant to your target market.  Commenting on videos relevant to your niche is another way to increase customer engagement and increase your brand visibility.

If you are creating your own videos, don’t limit yourself to promotional videos about your products or services only. Creating instructional videos that can help your targeted audience to solve common problems will get far more coverage than promotional videos.
