But don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a matter of creating an ad, posting it up and away we go!
Goals, strategies and planning are essential if you’re going to hit your marketing targets.
Facebook is now numbering over 1 billion users, becoming one of the best places for small business owners to attract new customers and leads.
So what are the keys to making it work for you?
#1 Remember your Call to Action
Like all good marketing material, a call to action is crucial. You have only 90 characters to work with, features are important, benefits even more so.
And even more importantly – don’t assume your reader is going to do any more than read – tell them what you want them to do. Yes you can be as obvious as ‘Click here’.
#2 Add Value
We know Facebook is about creating a community of believers, our tribe. What are you offering to keep them following, make them act, and follow through? What do they need?
Do you have a free e book give-away? Can you offer an introductory price? How can you reward their interest?
#3 Testing, testing!
Create multiple versions of ads and test them with different segments of your target market. Changes to your copy and images with low initial budgets to start can be trialled for success before launching big.
Mat Beeche from Shoestring Media Group recommended this as one of his best practice tips at this month’s She Inspires Social Media Seminar.
#4 Narrow It Down
Your Facebook Business Page has an Insights feature. Use it to understand more about your followers, their interests, geographic data and more.
Being able to create ads that will appeal to them will give you the best bang for your buck, and your time spent.
#5 Target the Right Type
There are many different types of advertising offered by Facebook today. Generally there are two types – Marketplace Ads and Premium Ads.
Marketplace Ads are lower in cost and have a greater reach – best for getting more likes and fans.
Premium Ads are best to promote your products and services. Choose the right one for your budget and goals. Sponsored stories and promoted posts are just two examples that can work for different outcomes.
Use the Facebook tutorials and read up on different types of ads being used before creating your Facebook Ad Campaign. Getting the most from Facebook Ads is about doing your research, having a plan and knowing what will appeal to your followers.
